Our teachers are the heart of Hinsdale Community Preschool! They foster a sense of community among our families, build strong relationships, and provide rich learning experiences for our students. Our teachers possess degrees in Early Childhood Education and many have obtained a Masters in Early Childhood Education. Our staff has longevity, as many teachers have been with our school for over 20 years!

Our teachers and administration participate in fifteen hours or more of professional development on an annual basis and all are certified in CPR and First Aid.

We consider the experience, talent and dedication of our teachers to be our greatest asset.

Director: Hinsdale Community Preschool employs a full time director who holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Special Education with graduate work in Training and Development. She has over 30 years of Early Childhood Educational experience. Our director is a member of The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Meet Our Teaching Staff

Director: Ann Marie Berlino
Ms. Ann Marie has held the Director position at Hinsdale Community Preschool since June of 2008. She received her B.S. in Early Childhood Education, and Elementary Education from The College of New Jersey, Trenton, New Jersey and a B.S. in Special Education from The College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, N.J. She has additional graduate course work in Training and Development from Montclair State College, Montclair, N.J.

Ms. Ann Marie taught kindergarten, second and third grade in New Jersey as well as Title One reading and math to kindergarten through six. Prior to coming to HCP, Ann Marie taught preschool blended age classes, as well as literacy enrichment classes, at Little Blessings Preschool in Naperville for nine years. Four of those years she was the Assistant Director of the preschool, as well as the Director of the Enrichment Program. She has over 30 years of Early Childhood Educational experience.

Wendy Carter has over 15 years of experience in education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Development from Concordia University. Ms. Wendy C. has 15 years of classroom and educational consulting experience. Ms. Wendy taught our Kindergarten STEAM Enrichment program last year. She has been HCP Board President and actively involved in the running of our school as an HCP Advisor.

Ms. Cathy Hribar has an Associate Degree in Early Childhood from Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL. She has taught two to five year olds at Penny Lane Preschool in Oak Lawn and she was the lead teacher in the toddler classroom at the YMCA Child Development Center in Burr Ridge. This is Ms. Kathy's second year at HCP as a teacher in our Junior class.

Ms. Susan Kuhnert earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from North Central College with Early Childhood Certificate from The College of DuPage. Ms. Sue has over 30 years of early childhood teaching experience with her most recent experience teaching at Little People Learning Center, Inc. in Downers Grove. Ms. Sue was also the Director/Teacher at Little Lambs Preschool at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bolingbrook, IL. Ms. Sue has taught at HCP for 3 years in the Junior class as well as several enrichment classes.

Ms. Kathy Lander has served 17 of her 29 years at Hinsdale Community Preschool as a Lead Teacher. She has over 25 years of experience in the early childhood field. Prior to joining HCP, Kathy taught at the Downers Grove Montessori School for 4 years. She was also a permanent substitute teacher at the College of DuPage Lab School. Kathy has an Associate of Applied Science in Child Development Degree. Ms. Kathy was a lead teacher in our Junior class for several years and is currently a teacher in our Senior class for the past 3 years.

Ms. Lynn Mayer is an Alumni Parent of HCP and has served as past Newsletter Chair, Secretary and Registrar! She has completed extensive work on HCP's NAEYC Accreditation and is an active member of HCP's Advisory Board. Ms. Lynn holds a Paraprofessional Education Endorsement (ELS-PARA) from the Illinois State Board of Education. She is an Educator for Food Allergy Safety In Schools where she educates staff and administration on food allergy safety for children. She has a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Ms. Lynn has been a teacher in our Just for Me Two class for two years!

Ms. Wendy Nickels has been sharing her gifts with students at HCP for the past eight years. Ms. Wendy has over twenty years of teaching experience in preschool and kindergarten in the Chicago land area. Wendy has a Bachelor's Degree in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Illinois State University. She has been a teacher in our Senior class for the past eight years!

Ms. Kathryn Williams has been sharing her knowledge and gifts with HCP children for the past 13 years. All of Ms. Kathryn's four children have attended HCP, she has been a past board President and is an Advisory Board Member! Kathryn has 11 years of elementary school teaching experience. She received her Masters of Education in Curriculum Development from DePaul University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Math from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame. Ms. Kathryn is currently the lead teacher in our Senior class as well as lead teacher in several of our enrichment classes!

Ms. Jane Youngs has been sharing her knowledge and talents with students and parents at HCP for the past 20 years. Her past educational experience has been at the Illinois State Pre-kindergarten public school for 13 years, as well as teaching at the College of DuPage in the Early Childhood Demonstration Center. Ms. Jane has her Bachelors of Art in American History from the University of North Dakota and she holds a Master of Education degree in Early Childhood Education from National Lewis College. She has Illinois state 03 and 04 certification. Jane has been a past director at HCP and is currently an Advisory Board Member.
