In a parent cooperative, the parents assist in maintaining the workings of the school by becoming active on our Parent Board or joining a committee (Hospitality, Fundraising/Social, or Buildings and Grounds).
Parents (or caregivers or grandparents) also have the unique opportunity to be in the 3- and 4-year-old classrooms on their snack day.
The fundraising/social committee plans social events (a mom's/dad's night out, a parent night out, and family events in the fall and spring). The parent night out is a casual and fun fundraiser, so the committee also secures auction items, class baskets, and a wine pull. Examples of family events include trunk-or-treat and ice cream socials.
The buildings and grounds committee meets in August and January (for about 2 hours) to do a set up/cleaning of the rooms. This committee also maintains the upkeep of the children's garden and assists in the set up/clean up of the hospitality and development committee events.
It's a nice way to meet other parents and be involved!
The opt-out fees are used for expenses such as carpet cleaning and necessary maintenance of the school.

What is the Co-Op Commitment?
- For Just for Me Two, a parent or caregiver provides fresh fruit and a beverage (juice or milk) on their snack day as part of our snack. Our youngest learners are working on independence and separation from parents, so we typically do not have the Just for Me Two parents attend class on their snack day.
- For Junior or Seniors, a parent or caregiver spends their snack day in the classroom if desired, and provides fresh fruit and a beverage that day as part of our snack.
- Each family joins a committee (Hospitality, Fundraising/Social or Buildings & Grounds) or assumes a position on the Parent Board.
- If volunteering on a committee or the Board is not feasible, families can pay an opt-out fee of $350.
What are the Committee Responsibilities?
The hospitality committee coordinates the summer events/meetups. They also plan the back-to-school picnic and the teacher appreciation breakfasts (the first week of school and teacher appreciation week in May). The fundraising/social committee plans social events (a mom's/dad's night out, a parent night out, and family events in the fall and spring).
